AFTER THE WAVE - soon a year has past since a massive earthquake in the ocean outside Indonesia caused the devastating boxing day 2004 tsunami that hit coastal areas in south east Asia and as far away as Africa. More than 200.000 lives were lost in the waves and millions of people were left homeless after the disaster. The daily life for the tsunami survivors living along the affected coastlines is slowly coming back to normal even though there are many places where life never will be the same again. The disaster claimed over 30.000 lives on Sri Lanka and over 10.000 in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu..These pictures are part of a photoessay portraying the daily life in tsunami affected areas on the east coast of Sri Lanka and in Tamil Nadu on the southern tip of India..2005-10-21, Kottilpadu, Tamil Nadu, India. It's a big day for the population in the fishing village of Kottilpadu.
